Laser Tattoo Removal - How Long Does it Take?

How long does it take to remove a tattoo using the laser tattoo removal method?

When many people start looking into getting a tattoo removed, they probably imagine that it is simply a visit or two to the doctor and then the procedure is done, much like getting a tattoo in the first place.

Actually the reality is a bit different! Either people do not know or are just hoping that it is a one time process, but the truth is it can take up to a year to remove a tattoo using lasers.

Why is this the case? Why would it take so long?

This long time frame is due to two primary reasons:

1. A medium to large sized tattoo piece may need to be subjected to up to a dozen individual laser treatment sessions.

2. This sessions cannot all be done sequentially over a short time frame. In fact, most laser clinics are going to mandate a 3-6 week waiting period in between each session.

So while it can take a years worth of time to pass in which a person can have these treatments done safety, the treatments themselves take no time at all. In fact, from the time you sit down and the doctor or medical professional gets to work focusing those lasers on the tattoo ink, you will be on your feet ten or twenty minutes later.

This is good to know considering the experience of laser tattoo removal is considered quite painful for most people who have had it done. However, those who were able to receive the pain of a tattoo in the first place should be able to deal with the pain of having it removed. Removal is usually describes as less painful but just can take longer, but at least it is spaced a part.

What does this mean for someone who wants to get their tattoo taken off via laser tattoo work? Mainly just that it means that they are going to have to plan in advance and plan for the long term. With this in mind, it only means one has to be on the ball, have the money to pay for tattoo removal cost, and be prepared to deal with the long term arrangements needed to get the tattoo removed forever!
