People get tattoos for all sorts of reasons. They may be in love and want to demonstrate it by getting a tattoo of their loved one's name. They may be in a gang and want to tattoo the gang's slogan on their forearms. Or they may have just got too drunk at a bachelor party and decided to get one just for fun. Whatever the reason, the time may come when the tattoo becomes a liability and you have to get rid of it. There are several ways to remove tattoo but the majority of them are painful and expensive.
Currently, the most commonly used removal method is with the use of lasers. The laser light hits the tattoo pigment that lies underneath the outer layer of the skin, causing it to break up and eventually be absorbed by the body's immune system. The easiest tattoos to remove are small ones on which black ink was used, since black absorbs all laser wavelengths; other colors, such as red or green, only absorb selected wavelengths and thus require additional treatments. The more treatments, the greater the pain and possible scarring in the treated area; getting a laser removal has been described as like being splattered with hot frying oil.
An alternative way to remove tattoo that is painless and more affordable is to use tattoo removal creams. When applied to the skin area where the tattoo is located, they lighten the ink and eventually make the tattoo fade away. Of all the tattoo removal methods, creams are generally acknowledged to be the safest and least damaging to the skin.
